Punta Cana International Airport, MDPC, is located on the eastern shore of the Dominican Republic. It is a privately owned airport surrounded by lavish, all-inclusive resorts and is among the busiest airports in the Caribbean. The airport is open 24 hours a day and has two runways (9/27 and 8/26). From west to east, there is an FBO terminal, a cargo terminal, two commercial terminals, and a VIP terminal. The VIP terminal is reserved for members only, so most GA traffic will operate through the FBO terminal.
La Romana International Airport, Casa de Campo, opened in 2000, is a 24-hour airport with one runway (11/29). The airport was built not only to give support to the people living in this area so they wouldn’t have to make the hour-plus trip to Santo Domingo but also to meet the needs of the growing Casa de Campo resort (which ran the old airport and began to exceed its capacity). The airport’s focus is more on BGA than commercial, as evidenced by the number of parking stands available for each type (40+ to 7, respectively). From west to east, there is the GA terminal/FBO building and the commercial terminal. Both have their own ramps.
World Kinect modernized its IT infrastructure by migrating critical applications to AWS, achieving a 20% performance improvement and a 50% reduction in mean time to restore (MTTR). This transformation also boosted software deployments significantly and provided extensive AWS training for 85% of the IT workforce, enhancing productivity and career growth.
The fourth race in our F1 series on the 2024 races that impact BGA is the Grand Prix in Singapore, which will take place on Sunday night, September 22, 2024.
The nature of World Kinect’s global energy business — and the number of government organizations involved — means the baseline of data security is pretty high. Any business working globally has to contend with a lot of different rules and regulations, too. Pereira says, “With different geographies we have different compliance needs to meet. Box allows us to adapt the classifications and regulatory requirements, such as for legal or finance, to manage our content in a better way.”
Aeropuerto Las Américas (MDSD) serves the capital city of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo. While commercial and cargo traffic are the primary focus, business aviation movements can be very significant depending on the season, due to tourism being the main source of income for the small Caribbean country. MDSD is open 24 hours a day but only has one runway (17/35). From north to south, there is a cargo terminal, two commercial terminals (A and B), and a general aviation terminal/FBO. Each one has its own designated ramp.
San Jose Del Cabo International Airport, managed by private company Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico, is the biggest and most important airport in the Los Cabos region. It’s a seasonal location, with the high season between November and April. The peak days are during Christmas time, and it is not unusual for the airport to be at 100% capacity around the holidays. The airport is open from 0700 to 2100 LCL (with extensions to 2300 LCL being granted on special occasions) and, like Cabo San Lucas, has one runway (16/34) and one taxiway. There are three well-defined areas at the airport. Two are for commercial traffic, and one is for general aviation. Domestic commercial traffic will go to Terminal 1, international commercial aircraft will go to Terminal 2, and the FBO building manages all the GA aircraft.
