The fifth and final race in our F1 series on the 2024 races that impact BGA is the Grand Prix in Las Vegas, which will take place starting at midnight, Sunday, November 24, 2024.
Punta Cana International Airport, MDPC, is located on the eastern shore of the Dominican Republic. It is a privately owned airport surrounded by lavish, all-inclusive resorts and is among the busiest airports in the Caribbean. The airport is open 24 hours a day and has two runways (9/27 and 8/26). From west to east, there is an FBO terminal, a cargo terminal, two commercial terminals, and a VIP terminal. The VIP terminal is reserved for members only, so most GA traffic will operate through the FBO terminal.
La Romana International Airport, Casa de Campo, opened in 2000, is a 24-hour airport with one runway (11/29). The airport was built not only to give support to the people living in this area so they wouldn’t have to make the hour-plus trip to Santo Domingo but also to meet the needs of the growing Casa de Campo resort (which ran the old airport and began to exceed its capacity). The airport’s focus is more on BGA than commercial, as evidenced by the number of parking stands available for each type (40+ to 7, respectively). From west to east, there is the GA terminal/FBO building and the commercial terminal. Both have their own ramps.
The fourth race in our F1 series on the 2024 races that impact BGA is the Grand Prix in Singapore, which will take place on Sunday night, September 22, 2024.
